The awards keep coming for former Clovis West and college football standout Adrian Martinez.

He led the Birmingham Stallions to a 25-0 victory over the San Antonio Brahmas at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis on Sunday, securing the UFL Championship title.

The Stallions have won three consecutive championships between the USFL and UFL starting in 2022. Martinez was crowned MVP of the game after being voted the league MVP last week.

Martinez’s Stellar Performance

The former Nebraska Cornhusker and Kansas State Wildcat finished the game completing 13 of 23 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. He added 52 yards on the ground to go with two rushing touchdowns.

Coach Skip Holtz’s Winning Streak

All three titles have been won under coach Skip Holtz, who is being called “the King of Spring.” He’s won with a different quarterback at the helm of each championship season with J’Mar Smith in 2022, Alex McGough in 2023, and this year with Martinez.

Game Highlights

It was a scoreless first quarter for both teams, but the Stallions scored in the second quarter and never let up. The Stallions went 9-1 in the regular season.

The Stallions’ defense was led by outside linebacker Kyahva Tezino who had nine tackles, including six solo and two forced fumbles. The Brahmas led the league by allowing 15.3 points and 256.7 yards per game, but Birmingham finished second in both statistics, allowing 18 points per game with 259.5 yards per game. San Antonio led the league with 32 sacks, while the Stallions led the league with 17 takeaways. The Brahmas were limited to 208 total yards. San Antonio quarterback Chase Garbers was 18 of 26 for 116 passing yards.

They outrushed the Brahmas 210 yards to 52.

Tom Brady’s Broadcasting Debut

The “GOAT” himself, former Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady, made his FOX broadcasting debut during the UFL championship game. Brady later appeared on stage after the Stallions’ win to present the MVP award to Martinez.

Martinez’s NFL Prospects

This MVP campaign puts Martinez in good standing with the NFL where he showed he’s very deserving of a tryout or look from pro scouts.

The Stallions are owned and operated by actor Dwayne Johnson’s Alpha Acquico company and the Fox Corporation.
