Today’s Fresno warm-up to the mid-90s is just a taste of next week’s heat, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.

NWS issued an Excessive Heat Watch on Friday for Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6. Temperatures are expected to soar to 105 degrees and could reach 110, NWS said.

Along with the daytime heat, minimal overnight temperature relief is expected.

The anticipated heat will increase snowmelt in the Sierra Nevada and produce colder, higher flows in rivers and other waterways.

Weekend Forecast

The forecast calls for afternoon highs of 95 Saturday, followed by the high 80s on Sunday and Monday.
