In a major technical glitch, Meta’s major platforms — Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook — experienced a temporary shutdown on Wednesday.

This follows a similar widespread disruption that occurred about a month ago. Instagram and its microblogging platform, Threads, also faced user-reported issues this week.

Meta, the parent company, had not addressed the problems at the time of reporting. The company is known for its delayed responses to such issues and typically does not provide details about the cause or resolution.

However, Down Detector, a website that tracks online outages, recorded a surge in reports of issues with all three Meta apps today. Users complained about difficulties in sending messages and accessing the platforms online.

The outage seemed to be short-lived as users were able to regain access shortly after the disruption began. However, some users reported sluggish performance as the platforms came back online.
