The Fresno County Animal Shelter, managed by the Fresno Humane Animal Services is at full capacity due to a surge in animal intakes. The shelter is urgently calling on the community for support to ensure the continued care of animals in need.
Due to space constraints, the shelter can only accept sick, injured, aggressive, and orphaned nursing animals at this time. Despite the influx, FHAS remains committed to its core services, including adoptions, fostering, microchipping, rescue partnerships, and animal control field services, organization leaders say.
How the Community Can Help
The community can help by adopting a pet, becoming a foster parent, helping reunite lost pets, connecting with local animal rescue groups, and temporarily sheltering an animal on their property. FHAS can assist with providing necessary supplies for those willing to shelter an animal.
FHAS has implemented drive-up service only and asks the public to call 559-600-PETS (7387) before visiting.
Overcrowding is a regional challenge for animal shelters throughout the Central Valley. You can further contribute by spaying and neutering your pets, and spreading awareness about responsible pet ownership.
