Opening a restaurant is never easy. But Planet Vegan’s owners have overcome even taller hurdles than most to open their shop at Palm and Nees avenues in northwest Fresno.

In June 2022, their popular food truck went up in flames and injured two people, including co-owner owner Joe Ellis, who suffered severe burns.

Co-owner Michael McElroy took GV Wire behind the grill to show how their tasty food is made.

McElroy says they looked at the most popular items at fast-food restaurants “and came up with our own vegan ways to make it” with the highest quality ingredients.
