Fresno Police Nab Suspect in March 14 Slaying on Bulldog Lane

Fresno homicide detectives have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man near Fresno State and are now working on a gunshot homicide from early Saturday morning in southwest Fresno.

Fresno police say that members of the Street Violence Tactical Team apprehended Raymond Jesse Rodriguez, 27, on Friday in connection with the March 14 homicide of Joel Rueda, 31, at 1475 E. Bulldog Lane.

When Rodriguez was arrested near Ferger and McKinley avenues in the Tower District, he had a loaded Glock handgun with a 30-round magazine, police said.

Rodriguez remained in Fresno County Jail as of Monday afternoon facing murder and probation violation charges.

Saturday’s Homicide

Officers responding to a Shotspotter activation found Ryan Lecour, 47, dead in the 100 block of O’Neil Avenue near South Thorne Avenue at 4:23 a.m. on Saturday.

In a Monday news release, Fresno police Lt. Bill Dooley said that shell casings and other evidence gathered at the scene suggested that Lecour was killed with a handgun.

Witnesses told police that they heard two people arguing before gunshots rang out.
