The United States has just one representative among the world’s 50 best restaurants in 2026, and it is a Korean tasting-menu restaurant in New York City.

Atomix ranked No. 11 on the newly released World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, making it the only U.S. establishment to crack the top 50.

The ranking marks a slight improvement for Atomix after it placed No. 12 in 2025. The restaurant ranked even higher in 2024, when it reached No. 6 in the world.

Atomix is run by husband-and-wife team Junghyun and Ellia Park and focuses on contemporary Korean cuisine through a tasting-menu format. The restaurant, located in Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood, describes its approach as one that draws from Korean traditions while presenting them through the perspective of New York.

The Michelin Guide awards Atomix two stars and classifies its cuisine as Korean contemporary.

Atomix has also received recognition beyond the World’s 50 Best rankings. Its website lists three stars from The New York Times and the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Hospitality award in 2025. Junghyun Park received the James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York State in 2023.

Atomix stood alone among U.S. restaurants in the 2026 top 50.

Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, Spain, took the No. 1 spot, followed by Gaggan in Bangkok, Thailand, and Alchemist in Copenhagen, Denmark. Restaurants from Europe, Asia and Latin America accounted for the rest of the top 50, leaving Atomix as the United States’ sole representative.
