Fresno City Council candidate and Central Unified trustee Naindeep Chann Singh was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug, according to police.

The Fresno Police Department confirmed Singh’s arrest to GV Wire but said a toxicology report identifying what drug he allegedly used is still pending.

A source with knowledge of the matter told GV Wire that Singh had been released to a family member.

Singh did not answer a call from GV Wire.

Singh is running for Fresno City Council District 1 to replace outgoing Councilmember Annalisa Perea, who is running for the state Assembly.
