An 18-year-old man was injured in an officer-involved shooting early Friday after fleeing a traffic stop in Kern County, authorities said.
A Kern County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Logan Reyes about 1:10 a.m., according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
Reyes stopped his vehicle in the 5400 block of Pembroke Avenue before getting out and fleeing on foot, authorities said.
An officer-involved shooting occurred, and Reyes was treated for injuries at the scene before being transported to a local hospital.
Upon his release from the hospital, Reyes was arrested and booked on suspicion of evading, resisting arrest, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, firearm-related offenses, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
No deputies or other civilians were injured in the shooting, authorities said.
Kern County sheriff’s homicide detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
The sheriff’s office said all uses of deadly force by department personnel are investigated by detectives, with findings submitted to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office for criminal review.
Additional information and a video presentation will be released once the investigation concludes, authorities said.
