The Merced FOCUS staff was up late on Election Night, compiling the latest results for the 2026 Primary.
Here are a few big takeaways. Keep in mind, these are preliminary results:
✔️ In Assembly District 27, former Merced mayor and Republican Mike Murphy and Democrat Brian Pacheco, a Fresno County supervisor, will advance to the general election.
Murphy held the lead at nearly 46%, early returns showed. Pacheco secured about 40% of votes, with Democrat Japjeet Singh Uppal, a Livingston City Councilmember, trailing with 13% of votes.

Esmeralda Soria
✔️ The Assembly 27 seat is held by Democrat Esmeralda Soria, who now is running for Senate District 14. Early returns showed her leading that race with 43.8%.
Her Republican challenger, first-term Merced City Councilmember Darin DuPont, was close behind with almost 43.1% of the vote.
The third candidate in the race, Sanger City Councilmember Esmeralda Hurtado, also a Democrat, secured 13% of the vote.

Adam Gray
✔️ In Congressional District 13, incumbent Adam Gray (D-Merced) is leading over his three challengers with 41.2% of the vote.
Former Stockton mayor Kevin Lincoln (28.9%) appears to be the likely Republican contender against Gray in the November general election.
Republican Vin Kruttiventi (16.5%) and Democrat Daniel Garibay Rodriguez (13.4%) trail behind.
