Claude AI Goes Down for Thousands of Users Tuesday, Downdetector Shows

Claude AI experienced a possible outage Tuesday, according to Downdetector.com.

More than 2,500 users had reported problems with the platform as of 10:59 a.m. PT, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collecting status reports from multiple sources.

Most users who reported an issue to Downdetector said that they had issues with Claude Code and Claude Chat.

Claude’s status checker says, “We have identified an issue resulting in elevated errors on the Anthropic API, as well as issues accessing Claude.ai, including log-in paths for Claude Code. We are working to resolve these issues, and will provide an update as soon as possible.”

Update at 11:11 p.m.

More than 5,000 users have now reported an issue with the platform.

Update at 11:31 p.m.

Nearly 8,000 users have now reported an issue with Claude AI.

Claude’s status checker now identifies this incident as a “Major Outage.”

Update at 11:53 a.m.

Claude’s status checker now says, “We are continuing to work to resolve the issues preventing users from accessing Claude.ai, and causing elevated authentication errors for requests to the API and Claude Code.”

More than 12,000 users have now reported an issue with the platform.

Update at 12:02 p.m.

Claude’s status checker now reports, “We are seeing success rates across all services return to normal, and are monitoring closely to prevent any further issues. Impact occurred from 17:34–18:52 UTC.”
