A section of Highway 99 in Madera will close later this week for drainage repair work, Caltrans officials said.

The southbound on-ramp from eastbound Avenue 12 will be closed Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

Drivers are urged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time.

Caltrans cautioned that closures may last longer than expected if weather or other unforeseen events create delays.

Officials also reminded motorists to drive carefully near construction zones and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.
