The Fresno Police Department issued 88 citations to drivers and 32 citations to pedestrians and cyclists during a city-wide bicycle and pedestrian safety operation on Saturday.

The enforcement effort, which ran from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., focused on traffic violations including unsafe turning motions and unsafe speeds.

Officers contacted 90 drivers throughout the operation.

Fresno police plan to conduct another safety operation on May 16 in support of National Bicycle Safety Month.

Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
