Golfer Tiger Woods was arrested Friday afternoon for DUI in Florida following a rollover crash involving two vehicles on a small two-lane road, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference.

Authorities said Jupiter Island police received a call just before 2 p.m. about the crash. Investigators determined that Woods, who was driving a Range Rover, was impaired at the time of the collision.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crash occurred as the driver of a truck pulling a trailer slowed to turn into a driveway. The truck driver reported that the Range Rover attempted to overtake the vehicle, swerved to avoid a collision, and clipped the trailer, triggering the rollover.

Officials said Woods crawled out through a window after the crash.

The Hall of Fame golfer was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a test, the sheriff’s office reported.

Authorities said the impairment was not related to alcohol and that Woods refused to provide a urine sample.

Both drivers were uninjured.

The investigation remains ongoing and Woods is currently in the county jail, authorities said. The sheriff’s office noted that Woods would be able to bail out after staying a minimum of 8 hours in the jail.
