The Modesto Police Department arrested six people Saturday, March 14, for furnishing alcohol to minors during a Shoulder Tap operation conducted in the city, officials said.

The operation targets adults who purchase alcohol for people under 21, the department said.

During the enforcement, a minor working under law enforcement supervision stands outside a liquor or convenience store, tells customers they are underage and asks them to buy alcohol.

Police said adults who agree can be cited or arrested for furnishing alcohol to a minor, which carries a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
