More than 4,000 digital files containing child sexual abuse material were discovered during a search warrant served Thursday at an Oakhurst residence, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives, working with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed the warrant at a home on Granite Butte Way after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about alleged distribution activity in Madera County.

Investigators identified Christian Parmalee Edwards, 44, of Oakhurst, as the suspect. Authorities said evidence also indicated Edwards had been using his home as a short-term vacation rental and recording guests during private moments without their knowledge.

Edwards was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on multiple felony charges related to possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Additional charges, including invasion of privacy, are pending. His bail is set at $225,000.

All electronic devices associated with Edwards were seized as the investigation continues.

Authorities released an image of the suspects home to alert possible victims who may have rented the property.
