A 12-week-old puppy named Meeko is once again looking for a forever home after a rough start to life that included a surprising reunion with his rescuers.
Meeko, described by his rescuers as a “purebred mutt,” was rescued along with seven siblings and even his father before being adopted at 7 weeks old.
But just two weeks later, Meeko was found dumped in the parking lot of a county animal shelter after being spotted in the street during a pouring rainstorm. Fortunately, the puppy was still microchipped to the rescue group that had originally taken him in.
The shelter contacted the rescuers, who quickly picked him up.
Now back with the group that first saved him, Meeko is again searching for what they hope will be his true forever home.
Despite the rocky beginning, Meeko is described as a standout puppy with a special personality. He loves people, is alert and attentive, and already knows how to sit on command.
Rescuers say the young pup is expected to grow into a 50- to 60-pound dog and hope his next adoption will be the one that finally sticks.
