Former Clovis East High School golf star Bryson DeChambeau will enter the Masters on a roll.

DeChambeau will tee it up in the first major of the year in April having won two straight tournaments on the LIV Golf tour.

On Sunday, DeChambeau saved par on the final hole for a 6-under 65. Then the two-time U.S. Open champion executed a 3-wood from a wet lie in the rough on the par-5 18th to set up birdie and defeat Jon Rahm in a playoff at LIV Golf South Africa.

DeChambeau now has won five LIV events since bolting the PGA Tour for the circuit created in 2022 by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The win in South Africa followed his victory last week in Singapore.

Emotional Victory

As the final putt dropped, DeChambeau appeared overcome with emotion.

“I wish I could tell you why I am so emotional,” DeChambeau said afterwards.

“A lot had happened in my life in the last week, I am so grateful for my team and everybody supporting me.

“Golf is a fickle game, you work so hard at it your whole life and then you realize golf is just golf.”

The best Masters finish for DeChambeau is a tie for fifth in 2025.
