A shots fired call in Mojave led to the arrest of three people and the recovery of multiple illegal firearms, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the Mojave and Rosamond substations responded Tuesday to the 400 block of Silver Queen Road for a report of possible gunfire in the area.

When deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the area where the gunshots were reported. Authorities conducted a traffic stop and contacted Bryant Hernandez, 33, Heriberto Hernandez Casillas, 20, and Dorian Juarez, 22.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two short-barreled rifles, three handguns, extended magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, the sheriff’s office said.

All three were arrested on suspicion of willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of firearms without identifying marks, possession of a large-capacity magazine, possession of a short-barreled rifle and illegal possession of an assault weapon.

Hernandez Casillas was also arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, authorities said.
