Emirati billionaire Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor criticized President Donald Trump in a public post for escalating conflict with Iran, questioning the decision’s basis and potential consequences for Gulf nations, Washington Post reported.

Al Habtoor, whose net worth Forbes estimates at $2.3 billion, said the first to suffer from U.S. strikes would be regional countries themselves.

The post went viral, drawing millions of views, but Al Habtoor later deleted it at the request of friends in the UAE and U.S., saying it was not the right moment to upset Americans.

Al Habtoor said he partly blamed Trump, but “more” the Iranians, and suggested U.S. action was influenced by Israel. Despite his criticism, he praised the UAE’s safety and resilience amid missile attacks on Dubai’s infrastructure. Known for his outspoken style and business empire, Al Habtoor said the UAE must depend on itself, emphasizing interest over alliances.
