A Fresno man was sentenced Monday to 12 years in federal prison for illegally possessing ammunition loaded in an un-serialized firearm, commonly known as a “ghost gun,” U.S. Attorney Eric Grant announced.
Raymond Jesse Rodriguez, 29, was convicted of being a felon in possession of ammunition. Court documents say Rodriguez was involved in a March 2024 gunfight at an apartment in Fresno, where he allegedly shot and killed another person three days after being released from state prison. Rodriguez fled the scene but was arrested a week later by authorities.
At the time of his arrest, Rodriguez was carrying a privately manufactured “Polymer 80 Inc.” firearm with a high-capacity magazine containing 25 rounds. He was also serving a term of post-release community supervision for prior felony convictions in Fresno County.
