Clovis police say additional officers will be on patrol for St. Patrick’s Day to watch for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The enforcement effort is scheduled for Tuesday. Officials are reminding residents that the safest way to celebrate is to plan ahead for a sober ride home.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended driver’s license, according to police.
Funding for the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement detail was provided through a grant from the California Highway Patrol’s Cannabis Tax Grant Program.
