Most of the United States will lose an hour of sleep this weekend as Daylight Saving Time returns, with clocks set to spring forward at 2 a.m. Sunday.

The time change will shift an hour of daylight from morning to evening, extending daylight through the spring and summer months until early November.

Most smartphones, computers, and other digital devices will automatically adjust, but it would be good to manually update wall clocks, car clocks and other timepieces before bed Saturday night.

Hawaii and most of Arizona do not participate in the practice. Some U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico and Guam, also remain on standard time year-round.

The period of Daylight Saving Time will last until 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, when clocks will “fall back” an hour, returning to standard time.
