Firefighters battled a house fire complicated by hoarding conditions late Wednesday night in east Fresno.

Crews responded to multiple reports of a fire in the 4600 block of East Vassar Avenue, near Clinton and Maple avenues, shortly after 10:30 p.m. First responders found smoke and flames coming from the single-story home.

When firefighters entered the residence to attack the blaze, they encountered hoarding conditions that hampered their movement through the home and access to the fire’s origin.

Thirty-two firefighters responded to the scene and brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes despite the challenging interior conditions.

No injuries were reported, though the home sustained significant damage.
