A man died after a reported stabbing Tuesday afternoon in central Fresno, and police are searching for a suspect who remains at large.

The Fresno Police Department received a call at 12:32 p.m. reporting a stabbing near the intersection of Hedges and Wheeler avenues.

When officers arrived, they confirmed the male victim had been stabbed. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Police said the call came from a residence, but investigators are trying to determine where the stabbing occurred.

The situation was described as “very active” as officers canvassed the neighborhood and searched for the suspect.

No description of the suspect was immediately available.
