Authorities arrested a Merced County man Monday in connection with a shooting that left a local man injured earlier this year.
On Jan. 14, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 6900 block of Winton Way. They found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim received medical care, and detectives were called to investigate.
Detectives later identified Jose Miguel Martinez-Zarate, 42, of Atwater, as the suspect. Deputies located Martinez-Zarate at the Town and Country Motel in Livingston and took him into custody without incident on Monday.
Martinez-Zarate is scheduled to be booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of attempted murder.
