Madera police arrested a 44-year-old man Sunday after responding to a report of gunshots fired in the 1700 block of Storey Road, authorities said.

Officers encountered Rodrigo Robles, who was armed with an AR-15-style rifle, according to the Madera Police Department. After several attempts to de-escalate the situation, Robles was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at Robles’ residence, where they found additional firearms, a large cache of ammunition and narcotics, the department said.

Robles was booked into the Madera County Jail on charges of negligent discharge of a firearm and narcotics-related offenses.

Police said officers from the California Highway Patrol and deputies from the Madera County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the call.
