Visalia police have taken a suspect into custody following a hit-and-run collision and related assault along Lovers Lane Wednesday.

Officers responded at approximately 11:33 a.m. to the 3200 block of North Lovers Lane for a reported hit-and-run, the department said in a statement. While en route, police received information about an assault at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of South Lovers Lane, which investigators later determined was connected to the collision.

The victim was transported to Kaweah Health for treatment. The suspect was detained at the apartment complex.

The Visalia Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and Crime Lab responded to the scene, and the Violent Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.

Authorities say the scene remains active as investigators continue their work.
