Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Sunday that one of his top jobs is to “fight for aid to Israel,” speaking at a breakfast of Jewish leaders in New York City, Truthout reported.
Schumer said the U.S. has sent Israel more military funding under his leadership than ever before and called the aid his “baby.” The comments followed an Israeli airstrike in Gaza that killed at least 31 people.
Days earlier, the Trump administration approved nearly $7 billion in weapons sales to Israel, bypassing Congress, drawing condemnation from House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Gregory Meeks.
