Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old man after discovering multiple firearms and ammunition at a Lamont residence following a report of shots fired.

On Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of gunfire near Weedpatch Highway and Kam Avenue on the northern outskirts of Lamont. Investigators found a large party at a home in the 8400 block of Kam Avenue and recovered fresh shell casings.

A search of the property revealed a concealed AK-47 rifle and a 1911-style handgun matching the shell casings. Two additional handguns and numerous rounds of live ammunition were also seized.

Cliserio Urias was arrested and booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility on charges of discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner, illegal possession of an assault weapon, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reminded the public that discharging firearms negligently poses a serious risk to community safety.
