Violent clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces continued across Iran on Wednesday, marking the 11th day of unrest driven by an economic crisis, the BBC reported.

Videos verified by BBC Persian showed protests in Qazvin, Mashhad, Abadan, Aligudarz, Bandar Abbas, and Qaemyeh, with demonstrators chanting slogans against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and expressing support for exiled former shah Reza Pahlavi.

In Lordegan, two policemen, Hadi Azarsalim and Moslem Mahdavinasab, were shot dead, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.

HRANA reported at least 34 protesters and four security personnel killed, with 2,200 arrests. Protesters toppled a statue of Qasem Soleimani in Fars province, while security forces responded with tear gas and gunfire in several cities.

The unrest, which began on Dec. 28 over the rial’s record decline and soaring inflation, has spread to 111 cities. Authorities announced limited financial relief for citizens while vowing rapid prosecution of “rioters” carrying weapons.
