A 17-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash with a pickup truck Friday afternoon on Auberry Road in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The teen was identified as Jayce Alonzo of Junction City, Kansas, according to the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.
The crash was reported about 3 p.m. on Auberry Road south of the Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club.
CHP said Alonzo was riding a BMW S1000RR motorcycle southbound and entered a sweeping right-hand curve when the motorcycle crossed over the solid double yellow lines into the northbound lane.
At the same time, a 39-year-old man was driving a Ford F-350 dually pickup truck northbound and approaching the same curve. CHP said the front of the motorcycle collided with the front of the pickup truck, ejecting Alonzo onto the roadway.
Emergency medical personnel provided aid, but Alonzo was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP said Alonzo was wearing a full-face helmet. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
