A 19-year-old Porterville man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at multiple victims following a verbal altercation, Porterville police said.

Officers were dispatched about 2:18 p.m. Sunday to the sub-100 block of West Henderson Avenue after reports of a shooting. Police contacted the victims and confirmed that no one was injured, according to a Porterville Police Department press release.

Investigators determined the suspect discharged a firearm at the victims before fleeing the scene. Officers secured the area and preserved evidence, and detectives later took over the investigation.

Police identified the suspect as Cesar Sevilla, 19, of Porterville. Detectives authored a search warrant for Sevilla’s residence, which was served during the investigation. Sevilla was arrested during the warrant service, and additional evidence was located and collected, police said.

Sevilla was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, malicious discharge of a firearm, making criminal threats, and discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle.

He was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office South County Detention Facility, where he is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
