Fresno Man Dies After Being Shot by Neighbor, Police Allege

A 64-year-old Fresno man was fatally shot Tuesday evening during a neighbor disturbance in northeast Fresno, police said.

Officers with the Fresno Police Department’s Northeast Policing District responded around 6:17 p.m. to the area of Clinton Avenue and Bond Street after a report of a disturbance in which a gunshot was heard. At the scene, officers found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was identified as Mark Tarasevic of Fresno. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Homicide detectives identified John Gentry, 74, as the suspect. Police said Gentry and Tarasevic were neighbors.

Gentry was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of murder. The firearm used in the shooting was recovered.
