Officers are investigating a homicide after three people were shot Sunday morning at an apartment complex near Pleasant and Fedora avenues, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.

Officers responded at 10:53 a.m. to a nine-round ShotSpotter activation and found three gunshot victims, police said. A 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where both were listed in stable condition.

A third victim, identified as Mariano Cabrera, 35, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and was also transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

Homicide detectives said Cabrera and the 30-year-old man were confronted by an unknown male suspect inside the apartment complex, who fired several rounds, striking both victims.

The 34-year-old woman, who is unrelated to the other two victims, was unintentionally struck by gunfire.
