Fresno Police Arrest Suspect in October Shooting

Fresno police are investigating a homicide after a 24-year-old man was fatally shot last fall in southwest Fresno.

Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, to the area of Poppy and California avenues, where they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Despite life-saving efforts, the victim, identified as Faustino Mancilla, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives later identified Estevan Diaz, 23, as the suspect. Diaz was arrested Friday and booked into the Fresno County Jail on a murder charge.
