Fourteen people were arrested for driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint held Saturday night at Fig Garden Drive and Bullard Avenue, Fresno police said.
The checkpoint, which ran from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., contacted 364 vehicles and cited 24 drivers for operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, authorities reported.
Fresno police said the locations of DUI checkpoints are chosen based on reported incidents of impaired driving crashes, with the goal of keeping roads safe by removing suspected impaired drivers.
The next DUI checkpoint in Fresno is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 27.
Funding for the operation came from a grant through the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
