An 80-year-old Visalia man was convicted Thursday, Dec. 4, of 11 counts of child molestation involving a single female minor, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said.

A Tulare County jury found Richard Bomhard guilty of crimes alleged to have occurred between March 2014 and March 2021. After his 2021 arrest, Bomhard posted bail and remained out of custody during the trial, prosecutors said.

Bomhard failed to appear for the reading of the verdict on Dec. 4 and again the following morning for a scheduled remand. A judge issued a warrant, and Visalia police arrested him without incident on Dec. 5.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 5, 2026. Bomhard faces life in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Clare and investigated by the Visalia Police Department.
