A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he broke into Hanford Christian School, damaged several windows, rummaged through vehicles and stole a truck before being tracked down by authorities.
The Kings County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched around 6:54 a.m. to the campus on Flint Avenue after video showed a man climbing through a classroom window. The suspect was later identified as Marshall Ovalle.
When deputies arrived, a second caller reported his Dodge truck had been stolen from the school’s parking lot. The owner was receiving real-time location updates and helped direct officers to the 900 block of Seventh Street, where Hanford police found the stolen truck and took Ovalle into custody.
Deputies said Ovalle had also broken into the school’s band room, damaged multiple windows and entered another vehicle before taking the Dodge. All stolen items were recovered and returned to their owners, according to the sheriff’s office.
Ovalle was booked into the Kings County Jail on charges of burglary, vandalism, and vehicle theft. His bail was set at $45,000.
