Fresno firefighters contained an apartment fire Monday afternoon that displaced two residents but left the rest of the building unharmed, officials said.
Crews were called just after 3 p.m. to the 4700 block of East Church Avenue and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a single unit as the fire began threatening neighboring apartments, the Fresno Fire Department said. Firefighters attacked the flames and kept the fire from spreading, containing it to the unit where it started.
No injuries were reported. Two residents were displaced, while the eight other units in the building were not affected.
Investigators determined the fire was sparked by unattended burning scented incense.
The department reminded the public to never leave candles or incense unattended and to fully extinguish them before leaving home or going to bed.
