Fresno State learned its postseason football assignment on Sunday — the Arizona Bowl against Miami of Ohio.

That is the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl, scheduled for Dec. 27 at 1:30 p.m., PT, at Camino Del Sol Stadium — the new name of Arizona Stadium — in Tucson. And yes, the game is sponsored by Snoop Dogg and Dre’s Gin & Juice brand.

The game will air on The CW (CW 59 in Fresno).

It will be the Bulldogs’ fifth consecutive bowl appearance.

This will be the first meeting between Fresno State (8-4, 5-3 Mountain West) and Miami (7-6, 6-2 MAC).

Fresno State head coach Matt Entz said he is “super excited” for the game.

“Anytime you’re playing football in the month of December, that’s a positive for your institution and your football program,” Entz said at a Monday news conference.

Entz joked that he is preparing by listening to “The Chronic,” the landmark 1992 Dr. Dre rap album, featuring Snoop Dogg.

“Way older than most of the people … I was in college still. So already started to get my ears ready for some Snoop Dogg,” Entz said.

Miami lost 23–13 to Western Michigan in the MAC championship game. Fresno State finished one game short of a first-place tie.

Snoop Dogg is scheduled to attend the game and conduct the coin toss.

“All Snoop, all the time,” Arizona Bowl spokesperson Eric Rhodes said.

No QB Decided

Entz would not commit to who may be the starting quarterback — senior E.J. Warner or sophomore Carson Conklin.

Warner started nine games, posting a 6-3 record. He was benched after the Colorado State loss, before returning to start the final two games. He completed 69% of his passes for 1,811 yards, 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Conklin went 2-1 in his three starts in between. Hen completed 50% of his passes for 354 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Entz did say others may opt out of the game, but did not name names.

“We’ve had a few guys that have come in and looked at maybe they won’t partake in practice as we move forward,” Entz said.

Tight end Jake Tarwater, who left the final regular season game at San Jose State with an apparent injury, will not play.

The bowl game gives the Bulldogs 10 more practices. Since the end of the regular season, the team has been in the weight room and trainer’s table. The extra practices will help “knock the rust off.”

Entz said the practices will give “our young players to execute our offense and defense, getting them back into rhythm with our terminology and things rather than being scout team. And then we’ll narrow it down as we get closer and closer to game day.”

The extra practices will help prepare the younger players for spring practice, Entz said.

The team plans to leave Dec. 24 and return after the game.

“We’re going to celebrate Christmas with Snoop Dogg and at the bowl game,” Entz said.

Speedy-Snoop Connection

The game represents a return to Tucson for running back Rayshon Luke. He played for Arizona from 2022 to 2024 before transferring to Fresno State this season.

“I love the way he goes about his business. Very matter of fact, very grounded, very humble. It’s all about the process for him, and I think that’s part of the reason why he’s transitioned so well and and hit the ground running so well with the Bulldogs,” Entz said.

Luke, who grew up in southern California, is a product of the Snoop Youth Football League.

Mountain West Bowl Lineup

Seven Mountain West teams will play in bowl games. The lineup for the rest of conference (by date, all times Pacific):

  • LA Bowl (Dec. 13, 5 p.m., Inglewood, SoFi Stadium, ABC): Boise State vs. Washington
  • Potato Bowl (Dec. 22, 11 a.m., Boise, Idaho, Albertsons Stadium, ESPN): Utah State vs. Washington State
  • Frisco Bowl (Dec. 23, 6 p.m., Frisco, Texas, Ford Center at The Star, ESPN): UNLV vs. Ohio
  • Hawai‘i Bowl (Dec. 24, 5 p.m., Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Clarence T. Ching Athletics Complex, ESPN): Hawai‘i vs. California
  • Rate Bowl (Dec. 26, 1:30 p.m., Phoenix, Arizona, Chase Field, ESPN): New Mexico vs. Minnesota
  • New Mexico Bowl (Dec. 27, 2:45 p.m., Albuquerque, New Mexico, University Stadium, ESPN): San Diego State vs. North Texas

A spot in the Rate Bowl opened when two Big 12 teams that otherwise would have qualified — Iowa State and Kansas State — declined postseason invitations. ESPN reported the conference fined both programs $500,000.
