Merced police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of randomly assaulting another person, causing serious injuries, before fleeing the scene.

According to the Merced Police Department on Wednesday, the suspect approached the victim without provocation and physically attacked him.

Officers said the man left before they arrived. A surveillance image released by police shows the individual walking through what appears to be a parking lot while holding items in his arms.
