A Kern County Fire Department engine was struck during a pair of traffic collisions Monday morning on Highway 14 near Silver Queen Road, officials said.
Firefighters from the Mojave station initially responded around 7:45 a.m. to a crash involving two passenger vehicles and were providing medical care to a patient with help from Hall Ambulance personnel.

As crews worked, a secondary crash occurred when two vehicles passing the scene collided, causing one to lose control and hit the parked fire engine, the department said.
No firefighters, ambulance staff or California Highway Patrol officers were injured. One person from the secondary collision was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The department said the incident highlights the dangers first responders face on busy roadways and urged drivers to slow down, stay alert and move over when emergency crews are present.
