A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with several large-scale illegal dumping incidents near Rosamond, authorities said.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said deputies from the Rosamond Substation contacted a driver early Tuesday who was actively dumping construction debris from a semi-truck near Highway 14 and Dawn Road.

The driver, identified as Bryan Betancourt, was taken into custody without incident.

The truck was associated with a company called “By The Ton,” and investigators believe other individuals connected to the business may also be involved.

The Sheriff’s Office said cleanup from the dumping has resulted in significant costs to the county.
