A 43-year-old Madera man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he unlawfully entered a home and attempted to commit a sexual act on a young female juvenile.

The Madera Police Department received a 911 call at about 3 a.m. reporting an unknown male inside a residence. Officers arrived to find the suspect fleeing on foot from the back of the home.

After a brief pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody and identified as Hilario Morales-Santiago.

According to authorities, the victim woke to find Morales-Santiago in her room, immediately yelled for him to leave, and called police.

Officers say Morales-Santiago is known to them through prior, similar investigations.

He was booked into Madera County Jail on two felony charges.
