The Fresno County coroner identified Cesar Ochoa, 30, of Kerman, as the man killed Monday in a two-vehicle accident at about 8 p.m. at the T-intersection of Butte and American avenues.

The intersection is west of Kerman.

According to a California Highway Patrol report, officers determined that Ochoa ran a stop sign in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up, striking a 2017 Honda Civic westbound on American Avenue that had the right of way.

The impact forced the Honda into a dirt field, where it overturned before coming to rest on its wheels. The pickup truck careened into a field, striking a power pole guide wire before coming to a stop.

Crash Victim Airlifted to CRMC

Ochoa exited the Chevrolet and collapsed at the scene. He was transported by SkyLife Air Ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died, authorities said.

The Honda driver, a 20-year-old woman from San Joaquin, had minor injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment, the CHP said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to factor in the crash, according to the CHP report.
