Fresno Police cited 148 people during a city-wide bicycle and pedestrian safety operation on Saturday.
Officers issued 99 citations to drivers for violations including failing to yield, unsafe speed, using a handheld device while driving, and running red lights. Four drivers were arrested for DUI. An additional 49 pedestrians and cyclists were cited for various code violations.
The operation ran from noon to 10 p.m., during which officers contacted 104 drivers.
Fresno Police plan to conduct another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation in December.
The program was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
