The Fresno Police Department will conduct a traffic safety operation on Saturday focused on reducing collisions involving pedestrians and bicyclists, officials announced.

The operation will run from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and target common driver violations that endanger people walking or biking, including speeding, illegal turns, failing to yield, and ignoring traffic signs and signals.

Drivers are urged to follow speed limits, avoid blocking crosswalks, and never drive impaired.

Bicyclists are encouraged to obey traffic laws, use lights at night, wear helmets, and yield to pedestrians.

The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
