Organizers with the “No Kings” movement are planning a protest in Fresno on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. near Manchester Center on Blackstone and Shields avenues.

The group describes its demonstrations as peaceful and rooted in opposition to what it calls the president’s “absolute rule.”

In a statement, organizers said the movement aims to unite people “to fight dictatorship together” and emphasized a commitment to nonviolent action and de-escalation.

Weapons of any kind are prohibited at the event, organizers said.

The organization previously held protests in Fresno in February and June, drawing thousands of participants.

Additional Central Valley demonstrations are planned in Clovis, Visalia, Hanford, Oakhurst, Merced, Three Rivers, and Los Banos.

Similar protests are scheduled in cities across the U.S. and in several countries, including the U.K., Ireland, France, Spain, Sweden, Portugal and Italy.

Fresno Police to Monitor Event

The Fresno Police Department said that they are aware of the upcoming event and will be monitoring it.

Fresno police said that they will not intervene unless a criminal act occurs.

The department is also remaining hopeful that the demonstration will remain lawful and that traffic will minimally be impacted.
