Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 53-year-old Kerman man in connection with a fatal shooting at a wedding celebration.
On Monday, detectives with the Sheriff’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team took Salvador Rizo into custody in Kings County. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a murder charge and is not eligible for bail.
Authorities responded around 10 p.m. on Oct. 4 to a home on the 3300 block of S. Congress Avenue in Kerman, where a wedding celebration was underway.
Deputies found Martin Tovar Zalazar, 63, of Kerman with severe injuries. He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Detectives and the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
Investigators later identified Rizo as the primary suspect and obtained a murder warrant.
Officials said the incident appears to be isolated and that the suspect and victim knew each other.
